Warren Barton

GIS is delighted to announce the addition of Warren Barton to our team of football consultants. His background as a player at the highest level as well as media work in the United States makes him a valuable addition to the GIS team.

Warren Barton became the most expensive defender in English football when Newcastle United paid Wimbledon FC over US$6 million for his services in 1995. Warren went on to make over 150 appearances for the Magpies, narrowly missing out on a Premier League Championship in 1996 when they finished second to Manchester United. During his time at Newcastle, Warren played for such world renowned coaches as Kevin Keegan, Ruud Gullit and Sir Bobby Robson.

In total he made 450 first team appearances, scoring 14 goals for Maidstone United, Wimbledon (twice), Derby County, Queens Park Rangers and Dagenham & Redbridge as well as Newcastle United. He was capped 3 times for the full England National Team including his last cap against Brazil in 1995.

Warren now resides in the USA, where he is one of the main pundits on the Fox Soccer Channel analysing all the action from the English Premier League on Fox’s extensive coverage. He is also the President and Head Coach of the San Diego Flash Soccer Club, who play in the National Premier Soccer League.

Tony Carr Mbe

Tony Carr MBE, is the former Director of Youth Development at West Ham United Football Club’s famed Youth Academy and is recognized as one of the most influential figures in English football. A former graduate of the academy himself, whose football career was cut short by injury, he joined the club’s staff as a Youth Coach in 1973. He is now a club ambassador for West Ham.

In his tenure as director, as of 2010, Carr is credited with producing talent which has earned an estimated excess of $100 million in transfer fees for the club, while the 23 man England squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup contained no less than seven players trained by Carr – Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Michael Carrick, Jermain Defoe, Glen Johnson and John Terry.

In 2010, Tony was rewarded for his services to football by Her Majesty the Queen by being awarded the MBE (Member of the British Empire). Tony’s experience and insight into developing world class talent is invaluable to the Global Image Sports team.
