RCD Espanyol Launches North American Academy
May 9th, 2016 – RCD Espanyol of the Spanish La Liga have agreed a partnership with sports management company, Global Image Sports to launch their North American Soccer Academy.
Phase one of the project will see The RCD Espanyol Youth Academy partner with a select number of youth soccer clubs across the United States and Canada. Each partner club’s coaches and players will have the opportunity to work with the Academy coaches of RCD Espanyol in both North America and Spain, offering an insight into the player development program of one of the leading Spanish football Academies.
As a four-time winner of the Copa del Rey and with a successful history in European and women’s football, the club has an outstanding reputation and heritage. Based in the city of Barcelona, RCD Espanyol were a founding member of La Liga and play their fixtures at Cornellà de Llobregat, a 40,500 UEFA Category 4 Stadium, towards the south-west of the city.
Sporting Director, Eloy Pérez García said, “We are excited to announce this partnership with Global Image Sports and the creation of our North American Football Academy. We have a rich history, culture and vision of the future at RCD Espanyol; one we look forward to sharing with our future international youth partners and coaches.”

Part of the agreement will see The RCD Espanyol North American Academy host a series of Elite Player ID Events with its partner clubs during 2016, culminating with the RCD Espanyol Elite Player Experience in the city of Barcelona, Spain in 2017.
