Dating back to 1895, West Ham United was actually called Thames Ironworks for the first five years of its life. Over the decades, West Ham F.C. has enjoyed a variety of successes, which include winning the FA Cup no fewer than three times. The club has also won the European Cup, Winners Cup and the Intertoto Cup.
Three of the most prominent players in the 1966 World Cup, which was won by England, were from West Ham United. This included Bobby Moore, the Captain, and the two goalscorers, Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst.
